ROCKLAND – After drilling a potential game-winning 27-yard field goal in Friday’s South Shore league matchup between 4-0 teams Rockland and Norwell, a defensive penalty necessitated a redo for Rockland kicker Jacob Comman. The senior kicker wasn’t fazed, knocking the ball through the uprights to give the Bulldogs a 23-21 victory over the Clippers.“If you already did it once, you can easily do it again,” Comman said. “The game was on the line but I knew what I had to do, everyone was depending on me.”The kick gave the Bulldogs a lead for the first time with just three seconds remaining in the game. Entering the second half, a Rockland victory looked unlikely, to say the least.Norwell jumped out to a 7-0 lead on the first drive of the game with a 17-yard pass from quarterback Jack Luccarelli to wide receiver Jackson Adams. The Clippers would force a turnover and quickly score again, this time from a Luccarelli seven-yard run.The Bulldogs would return with force as quarterback Jor...

SCITUATE – Since practices first resumed in the summer, local football pundits have been pegging Hanover as one of, if not the team to beat, in the vaunted Patriot League. Those who made that prediction have been proven right so far, and the Hawks continued their torrid run Friday night.Senior quarterback Ben Scalzi competed 16-of-22 passes for 325 yards and a whopping five touchdowns, as Hanover (5-0) remained undefeated with a wild 42-28 victory over league rival Scituate.“It’s just a credit to the kids,” said Hanover coach Brian Kelliher. “Honestly, Scituate’s a great team, great program. They do a great job, and our kids just came in and competed. We made some plays when we had to, and fortunately for us we did because they weren’t giving up … I’m proud of our kids and the way they competed. It was just a great game.”For the majority of the opening half, however, the Hawks found themselves being baited into Scituate’s game. The Sailors relied heavily on a ground-and-pound a...

The apartments opened in June 2023.  But Wood said early on in Target’s construction, Target decided to wait until an October open.  Then the retailer pushed back to an early 2024 opening, according to Wood.  Wood said the construction work for Target is 95% completed, including bringing in items such as coolers. Who do you believe? ESPN's analytics thinks Oklahoma will win, Vegas favors Texas in Red River Rivalry

AUSTIN (KXAN) — In 2013, ESPN wanted to develop a handicapping system similar to the one bookmakers in Las Vegas use to determine spreads and predict how games will go. The Worldwide Leader came up with the Football Power Index, and as far as the Red River Rivalry is concerned, ESPN and Vegas do not agree on who will win.ESPN's FPI gives the Sooners a 54.5% chance of beating Texas, and that's based on ESPN's number crunch of previous scoring data from all teams in FBS. In an explainer of its math equation, ESPN said if Vegas ever published its system, the Vegas data "would likely look quite a lot like FPI." Some key stats that could help decide the 119th edition of the Red River Rivalry As of Friday night, most sportsbooks have the Longhorns as 5.5-point favorites while some have Texas favored by 5 points.ESPN's FPI ratingsTexasOklahomaOffensive efficiency8188.9Defensive efficiency90.685.3Special teams efficiency28.858.2Strength of record (rank)14Overall FPI24.225.8ESPN's Football...
