Ja’Quan McMillian found home at nickel and jump-started Broncos defense in the process

Published Mon, 24 Feb 2025 17:08:27 GMT

Home is where the game-changing opportunities are. That’s the approach Ja’Quan McMillian has taken this year. The second-year nickel is the surprise of the Broncos’ resurgent defense. Undrafted out of East Carolina, McMillian took over as Denver’s starting nickel in Week 4 and has done nothing but make big plays since. He has two interceptions, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and five tackles for loss in seven games since replacing Essang Bassey as Denver’s slot man. He’s helped turn each of the Broncos’ past three wins, picking off Pat Mahomes in Week 8, forcing and recovering a fumble on the first snap Week 10 at Buffalo and then picking off Josh Dobbs and recovering a fumble against Minnesota last week. The funny part? He doesn’t even fully consider himself a nickel yet.“It’s crazy. Home – well, maybe it’s not home anymore because I’m loving nickel – but the majority of my life and all of my career until I got here, I played cornerback,” he told The Denver Post.McMillian p...

A Ric Flair type of Sunday challenge for Denver tackles Garett Bolles and Mike McGlinchey

Published Mon, 24 Feb 2025 17:08:27 GMT

Winter’s last gasp had only recently let go and gave way to spring when Mike McGlinchey first sized up the Broncos’ offensive line group back in May.Lloyd Cushenberry? Really smart, he’d already figured out.Guards Ben Powers and Quinn Meinerz? McGlinchey called them “as big and quick and powerful” as any guards in the NFL.And what about him and Garett Bolles? The $17.5 million-per-year newcomer and the left tackle coming into a crossroads year in his career and after breaking his leg in 2022?“I certainly believe in the two tackles we have here that we can be upper echelon and always planning to be the top in the league,” McGlinchey said.Well, the snow’s flying again — football season snow this time around — and that notion is about to be put to the test in the most acute way.Football gets the moniker as the ultimate team sport because everybody has to do his job. But McGlinchey and Bolles have particularly difficult ones against Cleveland on Sunday. They’re tasked with slowing ...

While shoppers across the U.S. consider the Friday after Thanksgiving Black Friday, plumbers call it "Brown Friday."So, what is Brown Friday? Sounds gross, right? Well, it is, but not for the reasons you would expect. For plumbers, the day after Thanksgiving is their busiest day of the year due to the increased amount of house calls regarding clogged drains and broken garbage disposals - and, despite its moniker, not clogged toilets.More food cooked on Thanksgiving equates to more waste, which guests don’t always dispose of correctly. Here are a few tips for Thanksgiving hosts this year to help you avoid calling a plumber on Brown Friday.Don’t throw all waste down garbage disposalsSome guests can treat a garbage disposal as an extra trash can.
